TBoard — effective February 17, 2026. Last updated July 19, 2026.

TBoard is an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) app with text-to-speech, educational lessons, and a built-in messaging system. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Who we are

TBoard is developed by Muted Labs LLC. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at contact@mutedlabs.com.

Data we collect

  • Account information: your display name and email address when you create an account.
  • Authentication data: you can sign in with Apple or Google. When you do, we receive a unique account identifier and, optionally, the name and email you choose to share. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
  • Messages: the content of messages you send to and receive from approved contacts in your communication circle.
  • Profile backups: for signed-in communicator accounts, we back up the lessons you create (including passage text, questions, and answers), saved Scrapbook phrases, lesson resume state, app and board preferences, and custom-board structure and labels. This lets TBoard restore your content and settings after a reinstall or on another device.
  • Lesson activity and progress: for signed-in communicator accounts, we store lesson and session identifiers, dates and duration, completion status, answer outcomes, hint and retry use, board layout, and letter-level hit and miss counts. This lets TBoard sync lesson history and show progress across sessions. We do not upload the text a communicator types outside a graded lesson.
  • Device tokens: a device-specific push-notification token stored with your signed-in account so we can notify you of new messages. It is not used for advertising or tracking.
  • Safety reports: if you report a received message, we receive the reported message text, the reason you select, the relevant account and conversation identifiers, and the report time so we can review and respond to abuse.
  • Photos and files (lesson and board imports): if you choose a photo or document, TBoard accesses only the item you select or capture. Lesson text is extracted on your device using Apple Vision on iOS or Google ML Kit on Android. The selected source photo or document and board-key photo files stay on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. If you are signed in, the text, questions, and answers saved in the lesson you create are included in your profile backup as described above.
  • Feedback you send: if you use "Send Feedback" in the app, we collect the message you write, the category you choose, an optional contact email if you provide one, and basic app/device diagnostics (app version, platform, OS version, device model, language). We do not include anything you typed on the communication board. This feedback is delivered to our support team by email.
  • Analytics and crash diagnostics: if you enable “Share Usage & Diagnostics,” Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics receive app interaction events, device/app information, and crash reports. These services may use pseudonymous device or installation identifiers. This helps us improve the app and fix bugs. You can disable both services at any time in TBoard's Settings.
  • Subscription data: if you subscribe, your purchase history and subscription status are managed by RevenueCat, our subscription platform provider. RevenueCat receives an app account identifier and purchase transaction data from Apple or Google. We do not send your name or email address to RevenueCat.
  • Push-notification previews: when you receive a push notification for a new message, a short preview of the message content may be included in the notification. The preview is processed by Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging, depending on your device.

How we use your data

  • To provide the AAC, lesson, and messaging features.
  • To send push notifications when you receive a new message.
  • To maintain your account and authenticate you.
  • To diagnose crashes and improve the app's reliability and performance when you enable diagnostics.
  • To enforce our Terms of Service (for example, responding to reports of abuse).

Data storage

Your account, messages, profile backups, and lesson progress are stored on Google Firebase and Google Cloud infrastructure located in the United States — including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and Firebase Cloud Messaging. Messages are stored until you delete them or delete your account. When you delete your account, all associated data (messages, circle membership, account information, profile backups, and lesson progress) is removed within 30 days. We may retain a limited safety or fraud-prevention record when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect users, comply with law, or resolve a dispute.

Data sharing

  • Your messages are visible only to members of the specific direct or group conversation.
  • We do not sell your data to third parties.
  • We do not use advertising or ad tracking.
  • We do not routinely monitor, analyze, or read your message content. Our support team may review the specific message text you submit in a safety report.
  • We may share data if required by law or to protect safety.
  • Sign-in is provided by Apple and Google. See Apple's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.
  • We use Google Firebase to host and operate the app's accounts, data, and messaging. See Firebase's privacy and security information.
  • We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Children's privacy

TBoard is a general-audience application and is not directed to children under 13. You must be 13 years of age or older to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are setting up TBoard on behalf of a communicator under 13, the account must be created and managed by a parent, guardian, or authorized professional who is 13 or older and who consents to this policy on the communicator's behalf. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account without such consent, please contact contact@mutedlabs.com and we will delete it.

Your rights

  • Access: you can view your account information and messages within the app.
  • Deletion: you can delete your account at any time from Settings. If you cannot access the app, use our account-deletion request page.
  • Data export: you can request an export of your data by contacting us at the email below.
  • Report: you can report inappropriate messages within the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
